Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Indefinite extended protection: Arbitration Enforcement. Newly split article, WP:PIA5 ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 10:48, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent proxy editing by IPs and most likely sockpuppetry/block evasion. StephenMacky1 (talk) 09:18, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Ongoing edit war, and the Jogger is not offered with a CVT unlike the Sandero, so they're restoring an unsourced revision. 176.216.237.145 (talk) 09:49, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: A few weeks of Persistent Vandalism. The Seal F1 (talk) 10:59, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Controversial figure that has recent vandalism, and some subtle vandalism from past edits that needs to be fixed. — AllCatsAreGrey (talk) 11:44, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: IP vandalisme (POV-pushing). Terrum3 (talk) 12:21, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Lots of random IP vandalism of late. DaHuzyBru (talk) 13:06, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism. Lamine304 (talk) 13:10, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

+1 Plenty of vandalism just after a six month protection expired. Might need at least a year's semi. Entranced98 (talk) 21:20, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Sock-puppetry. Bored kittycat (talk) 13:32, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent Vandalism. I think they are socks but the vandalism has been persistent over the past few days. ScrabbleTiles (talk) 13:59, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. FMSky (talk) 14:00, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – rotating ips vandalizing in the same way. Thewindbird (talk) 14:19, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated disruption has continued since prior protection lapsed. Trailblazer101 (talk) 15:50, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-Protection: High level of IP vandalism by IP sockpuppet. BattleshipMan (talk) 16:39, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite creation protection (confirmed or extendedconfirmed): Same sockfarm (see WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Twilightsparklesnelly) repeatedly creating this hoax article. – PharyngealImplosive7 (talk) 17:29, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Edit warring across multiple IPs. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 17:40, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended-confirmed protection: Community sanctions enforcement. General sanctions for post-1992 US politics, news channel has become heavily involved in American politics. Also a highly visible page. I would propose indefinite XCON protection or temporary XCON protection for at least 4 years (during the Trump administration). RaschenTechner (talk) 17:43, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Has been getting a lot of edits, most seem to be unconstructive or blatant hoaxes. Scrimbler (talk) 17:52, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. OhNoitsJamie Talk 19:43, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated WP:NOTAFORUM discussions have been perpetuated by various IPs since before this article's move to mainspace. Such comments have not been helpful or constructive to the overall article and have grown quite tiresome to remove or respond to. Trailblazer101 (talk) 18:20, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: It is a contentions topic after the release of the new Direct. Dr. Precursor (talk) 18:25, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism Mellamelina (talk) 18:42, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP editors keep adding the name of this person's husband to the lead as the first thing about her; I make it 8 times since last November. Another editor has explained on the article's Talk page that this is not appropriate, and linked the policy, but this has not stopped it. Tacyarg (talk) 18:58, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Persistent addition of unsourced content by IP user. GnocchiFan (talk) 21:00, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Page has been protected since 2015, about a decade ago. Given the very low level of vandalism since, I think we can try pending changes for some time Filmssssssssssss (talk) 00:40, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Very little vandalism since protection back in 2012. Given the recent success of the protection downgrading of shark, I think we can try pending changes Filmssssssssssss (talk) 00:49, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: First of all, the 1821-1823 Ottoman-Iran war page is still a page that needs to be added and expanded. Even with the smallest edits, it can take a long time to bother the authorities by tagging them and waiting for a response from them, so I think the protection should be reduced a little, dear Wikipedia. BEFOR01 (talk) 05:28, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes protection: Slightly downgrading protection status in the abscense of a vandalism problem. 1101 (talk) 08:10, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: 2 months have past, and the vandalism has reduced a lot since. I would like to edit this page to reorganize some information of the plot, and I would like this to be unprotect since some time has past. 2601:243:2100:5AC0:11B4:E735:A894:1595 (talk) 20:40, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

"Israeli soldiers have summarily executed Palestinian civilians, often in front of their families." This is one citation that leads to another citation (why not list the original reference?) where it describes a single alleged incident that has been disputed. The original citation is careful to use the term 'alleged' and 'still under verification' and yet the wiki page does not say 'alleged' or 'accused of' - and goes on to add the word 'often', even though only one alleged incident is referenced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.230.248.39 (talk) 02:19, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

From the source: The facts below show that Israel has killed Palestinian
civilians in Gaza indiscriminately and en masse . . . Israeli military forces have shot civilians in front of their families,
shot civilians waving white flags . . .

This is JUST GRAMMAR. Under Name appears this passage:

"president Donald Trump signed a January 20, 2025 executive order directing federal agencies to adopt the name "Gulf of America" for the gulf waters bounded by the U.S.[27][28][29][b] Major online map platforms and several U.S.-based media outlets voluntarily adopted the change.[33][34][35] Mexican president Claudia"

It contains the word "president" twice. In both cases, the context (a SPECIFIC president) requires capitalization (President). 162.231.238.136 (talk) 20:06, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This speech is now the second-longest filibuster, being surpassed by New Jersey Democratic Senator Cory Booker on April 1st, 2025 in protest of republican bill (I believe).
